Privacy

The WorkConnexions site requests and maintains a certain degree of personally-identifiable information, which is used to create and maintain a working relationship between you, the user, and the site. We use this data within the requirements of the prevailing legislation at the time in the country at which the site is based (Isle of Man Data Protection Act 2002). This legislation is based on the UK Data Protection Act 1998, which itself is based on the stringent European Data Protection laws. In addition to this, we provide extra safeguards and assurances to users with regards how the data is used as and when the user is asked for the information.

Information collected by the site is summarised in the following paragraphs.

Session Management

When using the site, we anonymously record your movements around the site. We record specifics about your connection, including IP Address, browser version, operating system and pages requested. This information is used for anonymous statistics gathering.

If you log in to the site, then we can personally identify you, which is required to ensure a stateful web experience. Personally identifiable usage patterns is used for statistics purposes for usability, functionality and other reporting. No usage data is published to external agencies.

Account Management

If you register with the site, we require your email address to create your account. Couple with this, other information may be required or be optionally specified. The information regarded as being "mandatory" is information requried to ensure you have a positive experience when using the site. Also, to ensure that other users can use the site, we require some data to be specified in a discrete manner. For example, the data regarding where you are based/live is used to provide localised search results.

We acknowledge some of this data is personally identifiable and it's use by outside agencies can compromise your privacy. Therefore, we have taken steps to prevent outside agencies gaining access to this information both by implementing appropriate security and also by developing a non-disclosure policy.

Financial and Payment Details

In conducting financial transactions on the site, in order to provide premium features, for example, we require financial data to be specified.

Currently we use PayPal for all our payment processing requirements. Therefore, any payment or financial information (such as, but not limited to, your card details, billing address) are stored on PayPals servers. They are not stored on our servers, therefore we cannot gain access to your card details, or other related data. The charging process is processed exclusively by PayPal and its payment agencies.

No dissemination of Details to third-parties

During the use of the site, we collect session activity, login activity and other data related to providing you with the service you expect. This data may or may not be personally identifiable, depending on whether you log in to the site. However, whether this is personally identifiable or not, we do not provide this information to outside users or agencies. We also take all appropriate steps to safeguard this data from unauthorised access.

Contacting You

During registration with the site, you will be required to provide an email-address. This will be required for subsequent logins, and also for contacting you in a variety of situations. The nature of the site requires some contact to be made to you by e-mail to ensure workflow continuity.

Contacting you regarding an assignment

We send you an email when required by the site workflow, which defines the procedures and requirements for advertisements, blogging, etc. The nature of the email will depend on the activity at hand. Typical emails are:

Some email notifications are required by the site workflow. However, some may be turned off by yourself. For example, when posting a blog entry, you can opt not to receive emails when comments are posted.

Your email address will not be published on the site without your express permission, which audited if permission is granted. Users communicate with each other via the Work Connexions site and can complete negotiations without knowing each others contact details. (However, we recommend you show good favour by allowing a successful bidder to contact you using your email address or other means in order to encourage a positive work experience).

'Opt-in' newsletters

We like to include all our users in the Work Connexions community, and one way we do this is to publish occasional newsletters or status emails.

These newsletters are entirely opt-in, using very clear language. No email will be transmitted without the agreement of a user, as a result of an opt-in operation.

Your subscriptions to newsletters may be modified at any time in your Profile Centre, or by using a link in the email itself.
