And now for a bit of shameless self-promotion.

We're very pleased that Michael Prospero of Fast Company, who writes "Cube Talk" for the magazine, has identified us - this very blog - as one of the best blogs (other than Dilbert) for finding news and views about workplace culture.

The May issue of Fast Company, now available on newsstands and online, included this (on page 37 of the print version - I haven't been able to find an online version, but I'm reproducing it in total here):

THE FUTURE OF WORK WEBLOG

WHO WRITES IT: Jim Ware, co-founder of Work Design Collaborative.

THE SKINNY: Wow-someone who actually refers to his "Web log." How quaint. But Ware's views are forward-looking. His main beef: Business still doesn't use technology productively. "How come," he asks, "distributed work is still the next big thing?"

Update: With help from June Langstaff I finally found the online link. Click here to see the note in Fast Company.

Quaint indeed! I'm just a guy trying to sort out where the world of work is going - and enjoying every minute of learning and teaching about new technologies, new workforce interests and values, new workplace designs, and how they combine and intertwine to change the very nature of work, let alone where and how we get it done.

One thing I do know is that the future of work is going to be very, very different from the past of work. Like most organizational changes, it will evolve much more slowly than many of us expect - but way too quickly for many organizations to cope with effectively.

That's my conundrum for the day. By the way, our focus on why distributed work is still the next big thing is available on our white paper titled, strangely enough, "How Come Distributed Work is Still the Next Big Thing?"

Thank you, Michael, for the recognition. Sometimes I feel like that tree in the forest that doesn't make a sound because no one hears it fall, but actually our readership is growing steadily and we're redcording new highs in hits these days. Thanks all of you who do read the blog (there, I said it - no more "Web log" for me)
