Google has released a new tool for it’s AdWords ads that attempts to automate the advertising process by providing what is essentially a “wizard” to write campaign text for you.

Called “Ad Text Ideas” it is designed to provide inspiration and ideas to AdWords advertisers by providing “effective words and phrases” to help them write their ad campaigns.

Not a bad idea and I’m sure it will help those who are new to AdWords advertising and struggling to find the “right words” for their ad. I know I’ve spent quite a bit of time occasionally on some AdWords campaigns looking for the right text and this would have been quite useful.

I tried it out for this site for a “Blog Advertising” campaign and this is what it came up with:

I’d like to see the day when a Government advertises with me!! Obviously it’s not designed to make the ad campaign for you, but just to give you ideas.

A good idea, but I think most serious AdWords campaigners will still be writing their own text. There’s just something about the creative Rich Jerk-style ads that a computer will never be able to mimic:

“Your blog sucks! Mine is awesome so you should advertise on mine!”

Somehow I think that would get a few more clicks. You can go to Ad Text Ideas (requires Google account) to try it out for yourself.
